Christiansen’s career in journalism started while she was still in college when she got a chance to intern at WMBD-TV in Peoria, Illinois. In the year 1997, she began working as an Account Executive at KOLD-TV. A few years later, in July 2000, she was elevated to co-anchor for News 13 This Morning and as a meteorologist for News 13 at Noon, marking her first on-camera appearance.
Christiansen then joined the KOLD 13 morning team, where she worked until May 2006. She joined the KGUN 9 team in 2006 and served as head meteorologist until August 2018, when she moved to WPEC CBS 12 in West Palm Beach, Florida to become a chief meteorologist.

My heart is in Tucson,” Erin said. “I feel the mountains, monsoon, sunsets, saguaros, and wildlife calling me back. “Alerting Southern Arizonans to monsoon rain, extreme heat, flash flooding, dust storms, lightning, wildfire concerns, snowfall, and all the weather changes the Southwest brings, will be my priority.
